Indreba bio 

Ever since I can recall, I was surrounded by music, since my mother was a virtuoso violinist who had won the prestigious 1st Prize at the Paris Conservatoire of Music. There was a piano in the house too and something was always happening musically, so it is in my blood. I started writing poetry as a young girl and learnt how to play the recorder, the violin, piano and then the guitar, soon gravitating to electric guitar and a Fender Twin Reverb along with a copycat echo machine, recording my own songs on what was then available - a Sony reel to reel sound on sound tape recorder. I had been doing the rounds of record companies with tapes, and doing some modelling. I modelled for a lot of different products including a few record covers, one in particular being for a then-unknown band called Black Sabbath. I had no idea at the time they would become well known, nor that my image would later be used across endless merchandise in addition to the record cover. In those days merchandise for bands did not even exist and nor did the internet. It was interesting to be contacted out of the blue 50 years later by Rolling Stone magazine and to be told I was somewhat of an icon, and to then do an interview. I have since then released a couple of metal-themed singles for Black Sabbath fans about that, called Witch Woman and The Woman by the Mill. But I digress.

Then my acting career took off.  I was at the Royal National Theatre in London, and in films and TV, so for quite a long time, my own music was something I still enjoyed creating, but did in the background, except for singing in the big original sellout musical Lark Rise at the Royal National Theatre, and as a solo soprano on BBC's Ominibus on John Donne, accompanied by a lute. I did some soprano backing vocals on others' recordings too. 

Things have moved on now however in leaps and bounds technically and now decades later there's an  enormous assortment of musical instruments and gadgetry, guitars and keyboards, in my possession and a whole wonderful studio in my computer to piece everything together as the mood takes me. 

I'm not a fan of using labels and genres, I'm more of a musical  explorer looking to bypass limits and do what I do, in whatever genres, labels, or combinations or none, which exist around those sounds. 

I create music on the basis of what makes me feel good, what has enough of that magic ingredient, that makes one want to replay and replay. Music I like and create might slot into a genre label or it might be a blend of all kinds of genres difficult to put a name to. 

Like many people I can like quite a few 'genres' but that doesn't mean I like everything in that one genre. What is really important, is that it has to have some MAGIC in it - those undefinable experiences that you just feel when listening - attached to the pleasure principle. 

Music for me, is an ongoing adventure and exploration that is limitless and most of all, supremely enjoyable both to create and listen to. 

I also like to write lyrics as a way of getting messages across on a variety of different levels. Sometimes in different languages too.
